Manila Ocean Park

Come and explore the marine world under the sea at the Manila Ocean Park, Philippines' first world-class themed marine park that adopts a fusion concept by bringing together an Oceanarium, a mall, restaurant, hotel, open water marine habitat, and multi-purpose function facilities within a single complex. The Manila Ocean Park is owned by Chinese Oceanis Inc., which is a Singaporean registered firm operating and maintaining four oceanariums in China.

The Manila Ocean Park (MOP) is presently underwent some construction behind the historic Quirino Grandstand located at the Rizal Park. On February 29, 2008, Macapagol-Arroyo along with Robert Dean Barbers (general manager of the Philippine Tourism Authority) inaugurated the opening of Manila Ocean Park.

General Sections of Manila Ocean Park

Oceanarium Sections
  • Bahura or The Reef exhibits artificial corals and coral colonies in 48 tanks.
  • Agos or Flow is a rainforest motif that has 8 tanks filled with freshwater fishes.
  • Kalaliman or The Deep displays those marine animals found in the deepest Philippine waters.
  • Laot or the Fishing Ground exhibits Eagle-spotted rays and big fish rays in a long tank.
  • Buhay na Karagatan or Living Ocean is the prime attraction of the oceanarium. It is a walkway tunnel that is 25-meter long along with 220-degree curved acrylic walls. These walls are similar to that of the Ocean Park Hong Kong, Bangkok's Siam's Ocean World, Singapore's Underwater World in Sentosa, and Aquaria in Malaysia.
  • Pating for sharks feature numerous species of shark.
  • Overhang Tank displays a great variety of rays that fly over you when you are moving under this beautiful tank.

    Marine Themed Mall
    This is the first marine-themed mall in entire Philippines housing 25 restaurants where visitors can enjoy Manila's outstanding sunset, and can even go for open-air dining. The mall also houses 30 exclusive stores.

    Concourse Plaza
    This plaza houses big events like performances, concerts, and product launching parties all throughout the year.

    Open Water Marine Habitat
    This is an outdoor swimming pool having diving facilities where visitors can go for snorkeling or diving.

    The Manila Ocean Park is spacious enough to house 10,000 visitors on a daily basis. Moreover, the park also has a parking space for accommodating 500 cars. The construction of the Manila Ocean Park is in three phases. The construction of the Oceanarium is in the first phase. Its construction is scheduled to be finished and opened for public visit by February 2008.
